We're excited to be taking part in the second year of the Toyota Good For Cricket Prize Draw. Your support will help us to raise much needed funds, and give you the opportunity to win big prizes.

For every ticket purchased, you will have a chance to win a prize and 100% of your ticket purchase will come direct to West Bridgford Legion CC!

Here are some of the things we would put funds towards:

Junior equipment:

The club's junior cricket section is growing. This winter, we entered an indoor U9s competition, and in the summer will be entering U9s and U11s teams.

As we enter new junior teams, one format requires the use of a different kind of ball. The ‘incrediball’ is designed as a transitional stage for children from soft to hard balls. A box of six balls usually costs anywhere upwards of £20. In the appropriate age range (U11s), last year we had 36 participants.  To offer all children a meaningful practice, and for use in matches, we would need at least 24 balls.

Training & ground hire fees:

With new teams this year, we will generate increased costs in ground hire fees for matches and training. We’re extending our very successful All Stars & Dynamos programmes (ages 5-8 and 8-11 respectively, total 82 participants) from 8 weeks to 12. Additional weeks generates additional costs on fees and equipment, with an anticipated cost of approximately £220.

Similarly, in 2025 we ran a very limited club junior training programme, usually two lanes in the nets (£12) or in school halls, and only for a few weeks. This year we expect both the hire fees and the frequency of use to increase. Even at £12, last year we ran six weeks of junior training (£84). This year we aim to run 18 weeks (18 x £12 = £216).

We would therefore seek, using the funds generated through your kind support, to offset the additional costs associated with expanding our junior cricket offer, enabling us to provide cricket to local children without an adverse effect on the prices we need to charge.

Suppressing our costs, and therefore prices, broadens access to the game, enabling us to offer a low-cost introduction to an otherwise expensive sport.

Cricket balls (senior):

In senior cricket (70 members last year), we would use the costs to assist with the cost of cricket balls. The quality of ball in our bag of practice balls has become seriously degraded, and is in dire need of a refresh. Unfortunately cricket balls are not cheap. We are fortunate in that our league subsidises the cost, but even so it’s £15 a ball. Approximately 18 balls would be needed to properly refresh the bag (18 @ £15 = £270). This would have a tremendous impact on the quality of practice for all members; members can they put those skills to use in matches throughout the season.
